If you haven’t noticed, I have a thing for West African music. Sometimes I like it hot, but I like it cool the best. Orchestra Baobab will chill you out through the heat wave.

There are two videos below the fold. The first is an interesting slice of Senegalese city life; the second is a concert video. I’m undecided which I like best.
It’s a solid state Tesla coil and it wants to entertain us.
It’s been suggested that a good name for this coil would be the “Zeusaphone”. “Thoremin” has also been mentioned, though personally I think we need Theramin type inputs for that.
To answer a few questions I’ve received, YES, someone did yell “Play Freebird!” after the first round of music.

I knew the little guys were in trouble from the increased Internet radio royalties that loom on the horizon.
What I didn’t realize is that the big guys are under heavy pressure too. The RIAA now wants them to encode their streams to try to prevent them from being recorded.
