Old instruments, modern technology

I would never have dreamed just a few years ago that I could get great world/roots music from the Internet.

iTunes is great if you want American pop, but Calabash is the place to go for more variety. Like Magnatune, they give a big chunk of their profit to the artists themselves. They don’t use copy protection, either, which makes it painless to transfer the music to my work computer.

Their site helped me discover some terrific artists: Sara Tavares, Marta G√≥mez, Kiran Ahluwalia. And I just bought Seu Jorge’s 2005 album Cru. Yummy stuff.

Music is unquestionably my biggest addiction!
