More home buying stress

April 10th, 2004

The seller and I have agreed on a price, contingent on my inspections. My biggest worry right now is that there is a humongous double-wide that just moved in next door, almost smack dab up against my unit. And I don’t know if I can get the park to pay for any of the cost of putting in a fence, or whether the owner of the double-wide will help. I hate the feeling of being the one with the least power. It’s not fair!

On the bright side, I’ve been reading about recycled plastic lumber and hope to use it for the fence.

Soldiers in Baghdad

April 9th, 2004

I finally emailed Chris Langmeyer, who’s stationed in Baghdad many months. It’s so hard to think of what to say to someone whose life is continuously in danger. I do pray, every day, in my own incoherent nonreligious sort of way, for the safety of him and everyone in Iraq. How can we bring soldiers home as soon as possible? How can we start to undo the deadly mess we’ve made?

Cheap thrills

April 5th, 2004

It came to me. Why I love to organize everything. The feeling I get, whether I’m organizing files at work or possessions at home, is the feeling of life getting less complicated. I must be addicted to this feeling.
